Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information the RapidRecall AI app and the getrapidrecall.com website collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. RapidRecall AI is published by Daniel Francis ("RapidRecall," "we," "us").

Information we collect

Your account

You can sign in with Apple, with Google, or with an email address and password. Sign-in is handled by our authentication provider, Clerk, which stores your sign-in details (such as your email address and, if you use one, your password in protected form). We receive your account identifier and email address. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we receive Apple's private relay address instead.

Your study content

• The courses and exams you add, and any exam dates.
• Text from the material you add: photos of notes, a whiteboard or a textbook page; files such as PDFs, Word documents, slides or a syllabus; or one public web page you link to, which we read once to get its text. You can edit the extracted text before it's saved.
• Lecture transcripts, if you record a lecture and tap Transcribe.
• Your practice sets, answers, scores, and review schedule.
• Your conversations with the coach.

The photos themselves and your lecture audio stay on your iPhone. We store only the text taken from them.

Microphone

The app uses your microphone only while you are recording a lecture, and only after you give permission in iOS. The recording is kept on your iPhone until you delete it or delete the app.

Purchases

Premium and Exam Pass are purchased through Apple. Apple processes your payment; we never receive your card number or billing details. Apple tells us whether your purchase is active so we can unlock the features you paid for.

Diagnostics

The app contains no analytics or crash-reporting tools. Our servers keep error logs, which may be linked to your account, so we can keep the service working and fix problems. If you have turned on sharing with app developers in your iPhone's settings, Apple may share crash reports with us.

Our website

The website uses Plausible Analytics, which counts visits without cookies and without collecting personal information or tracking you across other sites. If you sign up for study tips and launch updates, we keep your email address with our newsletter provider, Buttondown.

If you email support@getrapidrecall.com, we keep your message and email address so we can help you.

How AI processes your content

RapidRecall AI uses artificial intelligence to write practice questions, explain wrong answers, create memory tricks, and answer your questions to the coach. Before anything is sent to an AI service for the first time, the app asks you to agree.

• Anthropic (Claude) receives the text of your study material, your course or exam, your answers, and your messages to the coach, and returns your questions and coaching.
• OpenAI receives lecture audio only when you tap Transcribe, and returns the transcript. The audio is not stored on our servers. The transcript is saved to your account like your other study material.

Both companies provide these services under their commercial API terms, which do not allow them to use your content to train their models. Each may keep content for a limited time for safety and abuse monitoring before deleting it, as described in Anthropic's privacy policy and OpenAI's privacy policy.

Please don't add sensitive personal information, such as health, financial, or government ID details, as study material. AI-generated content can contain mistakes, so check important facts against your course materials or the official exam guide.

How we use information

• To provide the app: build practice sets, run the coach, and schedule your reviews.
• To manage your account and unlock purchases.
• To answer support requests.
• To find and fix problems with the service.
• To send study tips and launch updates, only if you signed up. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
• To meet legal obligations and prevent abuse.

What we don't do

• We don't sell or rent your personal information.
• We don't show ads, and we don't share your information with advertisers or data brokers.
• We don't track you across other companies' apps and websites.

Who we share information with

We share information only with service providers that help us run RapidRecall AI, and only as needed for that purpose:

• Anthropic: AI questions and coaching, as described above.
• OpenAI: lecture transcription, only when you tap Transcribe.
• Clerk: sign-in and account security.
• Render: hosting for our servers and database, in the United States.
• Apple: purchases, Sign in with Apple, and opt-in crash reports.
• Google: only if you choose Sign in with Google.
• Buttondown and Plausible Analytics: our website's email list and visit counts.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect someone's safety, or as part of a sale or reorganization of the business, in which case this policy would continue to apply to your information.

Where your information is stored

Your account and study data (courses, text from your material, practice sets, scores, coach conversations, and transcripts) are stored in a database hosted by Render in the United States. Sign-in details are held by Clerk. Photos and lecture audio stay on your iPhone.

How long we keep information

We keep your account and study data while your account is active. When you delete your account in the app, your data and your sign-in are removed from our servers within minutes. Copies in server logs and backups are removed within 30 days. Lecture audio stays on your iPhone until you delete the recording or the app.

Your choices and rights

• Delete your account in the app at any time. The support page has the steps.
• Edit or delete material in a course at any time.
• Turn off microphone access in your iPhone's settings.
• Access or correct your information by emailing us.
• Unsubscribe from emails with the link at the bottom of any email.

Depending on where you live (for example California, other U.S. states, the European Economic Area, or the United Kingdom), you may have additional rights, such as the right to know what personal information we hold, to receive a copy, to have it deleted, or to object to certain processing. Email support@getrapidrecall.com to make a request. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.

Security

We protect information with encryption in transit and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information and will notify you if required by law.

Children

RapidRecall AI is for people 13 and older, and the app asks you to confirm your age before you start. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

International users

We are based in the United States, and our service providers process information in the United States and possibly other countries. By using RapidRecall AI, you understand your information will be processed there.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, tell you in the app or by email before the changes take effect.
